Welcome to SEPSIS Connect Wiki.
The SEPSIS‑Connect project aimed to enable the early detection and monitoring of sepsis in at‑risk patients through the use of innovative technologies.
The core objectives were:
- Establishing communication and awareness around recognising and identifying sepsis, both for healthcare professionals and for the general public.
- Continuous monitoring of vital parameters using biosensors, both in the hospital and at home.
- Integrating biosensor data with the electronic health record (EHR) to provide a complete and up‑to‑date picture of the patient’s condition.
- Developing an AI‑based alert system that detects abnormalities in vital parameters and issues early warnings of potential sepsis.
- Using interoperability standards (FHIR, SNOMED CT) to enable data exchange between hospitals and partner organisations.
- Improving patient safety and efficiency through early intervention, thereby reducing the need for intensive‑care admissions.
The project was coordinated by Brian Desplinter (brian.desplinter@azgroeninge.be).
