Welcome to Futureproof EPD Wiki.
This project aims to support the hospitals of asbl Oeuvres des Frères de la Charité and the non-profit organisations Myna and Organisatie Broeders van Liefde in their joint transformation towards fast and simple exchange of patient data from their Electronic Health Records (EHRs) using the FHIR standard and SNOMED CT–coded datasets.
The goal of this transformation is to optimise the existing EHR structures (i.e. lexicon, technical interoperability, and use of standards) into a flexible system that can be used across different information environments (psychiatric hospitals, PAAZ units, hospital pharmacies, primary care, etc.). This should lead to:
- Data that are usable and available for primary use, i.e. clinical decision‑making within and between the participating hospitals.
- Secondary use of data for policy and/or research purposes within and across the project hospitals.
- The development of a methodology for introducing international standards for data sharing and for making healthcare data more FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) for the project hospitals.
The project was coordinated by Tom Broekmans (tom.broekmans@evara.be).
