Welcome to FHIN's Wiki.
The FHIN project addresses the fundamental challenge of unlocking valuable patient data trapped in isolated hospital silos to enable large-scale, multicentric clinical research. Its vision is to create a multimodal health ecosystem that makes data usable for secondary purposes—research, AI development, and quality improvement—without moving or exposing sensitive patient data, thereby enabling preventive, personalized, and precision healthcare for all.
Objectives
- High-performance, privacy-preserving FAIR data network: Connect partners through a federated platform that keeps data inside each institution’s infrastructure.
- Multicentric collaboration at scale: Support benchmarking, epidemiology, clinical research, quality reporting, and AI model development across sites.
- Clinically and Computer accurate standardization: Harmonize diverse data (diagnoses, medications, labs, vitals, nursing & care, observations, imaging/omics where applicable, admin/financial, logistics,
- and operational data) into a common, analysis-ready format solving clinical relevant questions.
