Welcome to "Datadriven Personeels-en Capaciteitsplanning"s Wiki.
The project addresses the critical challenges of hospital staffing and bed capacity management by enabling hospitals to monitor patient‑to‑nurse ratios, care intensity, and ward capacity in a transparent and standardised way. Using shared FHIR‑based data elements on patient profiles, staffing levels, competencies, and operational bed availability, hospitals can build dashboards that support real‑time follow‑up, benchmarking, and data‑driven adjustments to staffing in response to demand.
With expected demographic pressure—especially a sharp rise in the 80+ population—timely and accurate insight into workforce allocation is essential for safe, high‑quality, and accessible care. The project also links operational staffing data to pathology groups (e.g., APR‑DRG) to estimate resource use, supporting broader research such as the “Cost per Stay” project. In later phases, the system can support policy applications (e.g., predicting required staffing for safe care, supporting financing reforms) and integrate quality indicators. Ultimately, machine‑learning‑based forecasts will allow hospitals to predict upcoming workload and adjust staffing proactively.
